STAR Young Scientist Award
The STAR Young Scientist Award is a prestigious recognition established by the Science and Technology Applications Remodel (STAR) Society. It aims to identify and honor young researchers, scientists, academicians and extension professional for their innovative contributions to the field of agriculture teaching, research and extension services and allied sectors. This award motivates early-career professionals to pursue impactful research and contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture, rural livelihoods, and food security.
Objectives:
- To recognize and encourage young scientists/ professionals who have demonstrated exceptional talent in agriculture and allied research.
- To promote innovation, creativity, and novel solutions for addressing current challenges in agriculture.
- To provide young scientists with a platform to showcase their work and receive acknowledgment from peers and experts in the field.
- To inspire future leaders in agriculture research and development.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age Limit: The candidate must be below 40 years of age as of the application deadline.
- Field of Work: Research contributions must be in agriculture or allied sectors, including but not limited to crop science, soil science, plant protection, agriculture extension services, agricultural engineering, animal science, agribusiness, or rural development.
- Qualification: Candidates should hold a minimum of a postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of active involvement in research, teaching, extension, or technology development in agriculture or allied sectors.
- Achievement: Demonstrable achievements in research with published work, patents, or field-level innovations.
Selection Criteria:
- Innovation: The originality and innovativeness of the research or solution.
- Impact: The potential or actual impact of the work on the agriculture sector, rural communities, or sustainability.
- Scientific Rigor: Quality of research methodology and adherence to scientific standards.
- Recognition: Prior awards, honors, or recognitions received for the work.
- Presentation: Quality and clarity of presentation during the evaluation process.
Award Components:
- A certificate of recognition from the STAR Society.
- A memento /medal or trophy symbolizing excellence in scientific contributions.
- An invitation to present their work at the STAR National Conference or a similar event organized by the society.
Application and Nomination Process:
- Application Submission: Candidates must submit their application, including a detailed curriculum vitae, summary of their research contributions, and supporting documents.
- Recommendation: A recommendation letter from a recognized academic or research institution is mandatory.
- Shortlisting: Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee of experts in the relevant fields.
- Evaluation: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview or presentation to showcase their work.
Award Presentation :
