STAR National Conference-2025

“Current Trends in Agriculture Research and Extension Services: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security”

Agriculture and allied sectors are the backbone of India's economy, providing livelihoods for over 50% of the population. In today’s rapidly evolving world the agricultural sector , is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by both unprecedented challenges including climate change, water scarcity, soil degradation, and pest management and groundbreaking opportunities. The demand for sustainable food systems, climate-smart practices, and technological innovations is more pressing than ever. To address these challenges, research and innovation play a critical role. The ever-increasing demand for food security, the pressures of climate change, dwindling natural resources, and the rapid pace of technological advancement have collectively spurred a new wave of research and extension services in agriculture and allied sectors. In recent years, agricultural research has evolved from traditional methods to embrace innovative technologies and practices aimed at increasing productivity, enhancing sustainability, and ensuring resilience.

Key trends in agricultural research reflect the urgent need to address pressing issues such as climate resilience, resource efficiency, biodiversity conservation, and socio-economic inclusivity. STAR society aims to highlight cutting-edge research, technologies, extension services and best practices for agricultural development to meet these challenges faced by Indian agriculture. Therefore, STAR society has decided to organize a national conference on “Current Trends in Agriculture Research and Extension Services: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security” in Feb 2025 at Jaipur, Rajasthan.

This conference aims to gather leading experts, researchers, scientists, policymakers and stakeholders to discuss current challenges, and opportunities, latest advancements and trends in research in agricultural and its allied sectors. Through collaborative discussions and exchange of ideas, the conference seeks to identify research gaps and priorities for future research and explore solutions that address the critical issues surrounding food security, environmental sustainability, and economic viability.
