STAR Gold Medal Award
The STAR Gold Medal is the premier recognition awarded by the STAR Society. This prestigious award recognizes and outstanding contributions made by individuals, institutions, organizations, or agencies toward the advancement and development of the agriculture sector. This prestigious award celebrates excellence in advancing agricultural development, innovation, and impactful work that has significantly improved agricultural practices, research, extension services, education, leadership, coordination with stakeholders, uplifting of socially backward classes and tribal community through application of science and technology, etc. in agriculture, benefitting a wide range of stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The individual or institution/ organization must have a proven track record of excellence and should have demonstrated exceptional leadership and contribution in one or more of the following areas.
- Agricultural research that has led to significant improvements or innovations and measurable outcomes.
- Effective extension services that promote modern, sustainable agricultural practices to farmers and communities. Extension work that has resulted in the successful implementation of agricultural practices at the grassroots level.
- Leadership in agricultural education and training programs that improve the skills and knowledge of stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
- Successful coordination and collaboration with multiple stakeholders (e.g., government, private sector, academia, farmers) to drive agricultural development projects.
- Implementation of impactful agricultural projects or initiatives that address critical challenges and contribute to sustainable development goals in agriculture.
- Innovation and creativity in addressing social and economic challenges and Impact on social and economic development of backward classes and tribal communities.
- Significant social contributions, achieving remarkable success stories in various fields, inspiring positive change and improving lives.
- The individual or institution or organization has been actively contributing to agriculture for at least 10 years.
Selection Process:
- Nominations for individuals engaged in agriculture and related fields and professional bodies including government agencies, universities, research institutions, NGOs, and other agriculture-related organizations will be accepted only through recommendation of one of the members of STAR National Advisory Board.
- A selection committee composed of distinguished professionals from the agriculture sector will evaluate the nominees based on their achievements, innovation, and overall impact on agriculture.
- The decision of the committee will be final.
Frequency:
The STAR Gold Award will be given annually, ensuring that each year an individual who has made an exceptional contribution is recognized.
Award Presentation:
The award will be presented at the STAR society’s conference or a specially organized event attended by dignitaries, researchers, educators, and stakeholders from the agricultural and relevant sector.
Award Components:
The award recipient will receive a gold medal, a citation, and a certificate of recognition.
